In this naturalistic, prospective validation study, the predictive accuracy of the Dynamic Appraisal of Situational Aggression: Inpatient Version (DASA-IV) was assessed in Estonian subacute and acute psychiatric settings. An Area Under the Curve (AUC) of the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) was used to determine the performance of the Estonian version of the DASA-IV risk assessment scale, and logistic regression was used to determine the likelihood between the DASA-IV total scores and patient aggression in the subsequent 24 hours. The analysis of 6098 risk assessments revealed that the DASA-YV had good predictive accuracy. The current study adds to a growing body of evidence indicating that daily structured aggression risk assessment with the DASA-IV is feasible and valid for predicting imminent aggression across a range of inpatient treatment settings.
